The project presented an interesting challenge for our studio, as it was conceived as an investment property intended for long-term rental. The design approach therefore focused on achieving a careful balance between aesthetics, functionality, durability, and cost efficiency, without compromising the overall quality and character of the interior.
The architectural intervention was intentionally minimal. The original developer’s layout, with its established structural framework, fully met the client’s requirements. As a result, the design process concentrated on enhancing the spatial experience and creating a generous open-plan living and kitchen area that serves as the heart of the home. The kitchen was custom-designed and manufactured according to drawings developed by our studio.
A defining feature of the project is the extensive use of natural travertine, which runs throughout the apartment and establishes a cohesive material language. Combined with classic wall mouldings, the stone introduces texture, warmth, and architectural depth, creating an interior that feels both timeless and contemporary.
The master bathroom was conceived as a calm and sophisticated retreat. A freestanding solid-surface bathtub serves as the focal point of the space, complemented by bespoke vanity furniture and veneered wall panels designed by our studio. The shower area is finished with small-format mosaic tiles that add texture and visual interest, while brushed steel fittings by Zucchetti contribute a refined contemporary character.
The master bedroom features an unconventional layout centred around a bed with an oversized upholstered headboard positioned within the middle of the room. Beyond its visual presence, the headboard acts as a subtle zoning element, separating the sleeping area from a bespoke storage system located behind it. The wardrobe combines textile-covered and veneered fronts, introducing softness and material richness. An armchair and decorative lighting by 101 Copenhagen further reinforce the interior’s understated elegance and cohesive design language.
The completed project is calm, elegant, and highly functional. While carefully tailored to the practical requirements of a rental property, it retains a strong sense of individuality and character, demonstrating how thoughtful design can create a lasting and memorable living environment.
